Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy
A Different Way to Break Through and Heal
Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy (PAP) combines talk therapy with legally prescribed ketamine to help you access deeper insight, emotional release, and meaningful change—especially when traditional therapy hasn’t quite gotten you where you want to be.
Ketamine can gently shift how you experience your thoughts and emotions. Many clients describe it as finally being able to step outside of the same loops and see themselves with more clarity, compassion, and perspective.
Who This Is For
This approach can be helpful if you’ve been feeling stuck—whether that’s in anxiety, depression, burnout, or patterns that keep repeating despite your best efforts.
Some people come in after doing years of therapy and wanting to go deeper. Others feel disconnected from themselves or unsure how to access what they’re feeling. PAP offers a different entry point into that process.
How It Works
We move at a pace that feels grounded and intentional.
We start with preparation sessions where we get clear on your goals and build a sense of safety and trust. When you’re ready, ketamine sessions are coordinated through a licensed medical provider, with therapeutic support to help you stay oriented and engaged with the experience.
Follow-up integration sessions help you make sense of your ketamine experience and, more importantly, how to bring those insights into your day-to-day life.
Why Ketamine?
Ketamine can create a window where change feels more possible. It may soften rigid thought patterns, open access to emotions, and allow you to relate to yourself in a new way.
It’s not a magic solution—but it can make meaningful therapeutic work more accessible and impactful.
Flexible, Ongoing Support
This isn’t a one-path process.
Some clients use ketamine-assisted sessions for a period of deeper exploration and then transition into regular talk therapy. Others move back and forth between approaches depending on what they need. We’ll collaborate with you to find the right balance.
Important Note
We do not prescribe or administer ketamine. Please see below.

Sometimes the path to wellness requires a team. Affirming Therapy Center is proud to collaborate with local Ketamine Treatment providers* to help you follow your path.
Legal Considerations
Ketamine is a Schedule 3 drug and can be prescribed by a physician or a nurse practitioner in collaboration with a physician. Affirming Therapy Center does not prescribe, sell, or administer ketamine.
In the state of California, Ketamine requires a prescription and is illegal for recreational use; other psychedelic drugs are not legal, including MDMA (aka ecstasy and molly), LSD, Mescaline, and DMT. Certain municipalities have moved to decriminalize psilocybin and psilocin such that psilocybin therapy could be provided. Always consult a medical professional and seek legal guidance if unsure.
