Deepen Your Knowledge. Strengthen Your Clinical Practice.

Many therapists find their way to sex therapy because they realize their graduate training left important questions unanswered. You may be looking to expand your understanding of kink, BDSM, Leather, fetish, non-monogamy, gender and sexual diversity, or alternative relationship structures. Or perhaps you’ve discovered that the clients you’re most drawn to serving deserve a level of understanding and cultural awareness that traditional training often doesn’t provide.

If that sounds like you, I’d be honored to support your journey.

My Path to This Work

Long before I became a therapist, I was exploring kink and BDSM in my personal life. At a time when these topics were widely pathologized within the mental health field, finding knowledgeable, respectful, and sex-positive care was rare.

During my own life transitions, I sought therapy and support like many people do. However, I experienced firsthand the negative impact of working with therapists who had limited knowledge and held biases about LGBTQ identities, sexuality, kink, and non-monogamy. Those experiences shaped my understanding of how important it is for people to have access to mental health professionals who approach these areas with openness, respect, and cultural understanding.

As my interests evolved, I pursued graduate studies in Human Sexuality, where my research focused on the experiences of women in the kink community. Nearly 1,600 women participated in my research, which explored their sensual, sexual, and erotic experiences at a time when academic literature on BDSM focused primarily on men. This work became the foundation for a peer-reviewed article in Archives of Sexual Behavior and the book Women and Kink: Relationships, Reasons, and Stories, which I coauthored.

During my clinical training, I sought out kink-knowledgeable supervision and consultation. Learning from a supervisors and colleagues who already understood the cultural context of these communities reinforced how valuable that foundation can be. Rather than spending time on basic education, we were able to focus on clinical nuance, ethical considerations, and therapeutic skill.

As an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist Supervisor (CST-S), my supervision is informed by personal experience, clinical training, research, and more than two decades of involvement with kink communities, with an emphasis on openness, cultural understanding, and thoughtful clinical practice.

Who I Work With

I work with therapists who are genuinely interested in understanding and working with kink, BDSM, Leather, fetish, non-monogamy, and other gender, sexual, and relationship diverse (GSRD) communities. While AASECT certification encompasses many areas of sex therapy, my supervision is specifically intended for therapists who want to build a practice serving these communities.

You don’t need to know everything before we begin. What matters most is openness, self-reflection, and a genuine commitment to learning. I intentionally focus my supervision on therapists who feel a sincere connection to this work and are committed to providing thoughtful, culturally informed care. If that sounds like you, we’ll likely be a good fit.

Areas of Focus

My supervision is tailored to therapists who want to build confidence and competence in this work. Common areas of focus include:

  • Kink, BDSM, Leather, and fetish
  • Non-monogamy, including polyamory, open relationships, and swinging/lifestyle
  • Clinical case consultation and conceptualization
  • Attachment theory within Dominance and submission (D/s) dynamics
  • Navigating ethical and relational considerations unique to GSRD communities

My Approach

Thoughtful work with GSRD communities requires more than learning terminology or avoiding pathologization. It requires cultural understanding, clinical curiosity, and a willingness to examine our own assumptions about sexuality, relationships, pleasure, and power.

One of the things I value most about supervision is having a space where we can move beyond foundational concepts and into deeper clinical thinking.

As you work toward AASECT certification, I strive to provide a collaborative supervisory relationship where you can bring difficult cases, uncertainty, honest questions, and challenging cases for discussion.

One of the greatest privileges of this work is helping cultivate therapists who provide knowledgeable and respectful care for GSRD communities. Every mental health professional who expands their understanding helps increase access to specialized care and creates experiences where people feel understood, respected, and accepted.
